Alan Howze Will Protect What Makes Arlington Great


As the father of three children, Alan is committed to making sure all of Arlington’s kids have access to the best public school system in the country. He understands the capacity challenges our schools face, and he will work with our school board to protect our investments in pre-k and k-12 education.

The Arlington Education Association Political Action Committee (APAC) today announced its recommendation of Alan Howze for the Democratic nomination for Arlington County Board.

Alan will work hard to ensure that affordable housing is always part of Arlington’s development. He will work to increase access to transit and expand trail connectivity so people of all walks of life can live, work and get around in Arlington. Alan also supports efforts to help our growing population of older residents age gracefully here in Arlington – the community they have given so much to over the years.

Alan believes our community is at its best when it welcomes immigrants seeking a better life, provides equal rights regardless of sexual orientation, supports a woman’s right to make her own choices, and provides support for the less fortunate among us.

March 31, 2014: Alan Howze, along with the Arlington delegation, calls on John Vihstadt to come clean on Medicaid expansion. “John Vihstadt needs to come clean with Arlington voters on whether he supports expanding Medicaid to provide health coverage to over 6,000 Arlington residents,” stated Delegate Bob Brink. “Down in Richmond, Arlington’s delegation is unified in fighting Tea Party Republicans to make sure all Virginians have access to adequate health care. We need to know that our local officials have our backs.”

Alan understands that we must protect our fiscal integrity while continuing to make important investments in our community. He will protect Arlington’s AAA bond rating. As part of his focus on fiscal responsibility, he is proposing an Innovation Agenda for Arlington. He will work to make our local government more responsive to residents and deliver high-quality services through innovative approaches.
